32 new ships to join Navy

During the next five years, 32 new ships and six more submarines will join the naval fleet, according to the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sureesh Mehta.

He was addressing the press here after reviewing a ceremonial parade on his first visit to the city after assuming charge as the CNS.

He said orders had been placed with various shipyards in the country and abroad to get the required vessels.

Some orders had also been placed with Hindusthan Shipyard Ltd here to meet some of the requirements of the Navy.
