Fog-hit airlines scurry for insurance cover

Airlines across the country, which have lost Rs 22 crore in last few days due to dense fog at airports, have stepped up measures, including insurance cover, to curb further losses.

Air India has tied up with Oriental Insurance to provide insurance cover to the national carrier when weather conditions affects the normal operational schedules, while Indian and private sector Air Deccan are in talks with insurance firms for similar arrangements.
