Now, you can get cover for flight delays

Pay Rs 180 extra on your airline ticket and say goodbye to your flying concerns – delays and abrupt cancellations, baggage loss and even accidents en route to the airport.

Low-cost carriers such as SpiceJet, Air Deccan and Go Air are in talks with insurance companies to offer comprehensive travel insurance products to domestic air passengers from 2007. If the passenger is travelling by SpiceJet or Air Deccan, the travel insurance may enable him to take a Jet Airways flight, with the fare difference borne by the insurance company. Even though the contours of this new scheme are being worked on, for the airlines, selling insurance cover to passengers means an additional source of revenue. Unlike international travel, this will be purely optional.
