Govt must ratify Montreal Convention: Aviation experts

“Otherwise, we may let Indian lives go cheaper” than those of many foreign nations, Sanat Kaul, who earlier represented India at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), said at a conference here.

Pointing toward the burgeoning aviation market, he said if a foreigner whose country has ratified the convention dies in an air accident, his next of kin would get a compensation close to Rs 50 lakh compared with about one-tenth of that to be paid to relatives of an Indian national who gets killed in the air accident.
