Govt mulls amending civil aviation rules

The government is considering amending civil aviation rules to make it mandatory to have a Category II instrument landing system at all airports for reducing fog-related problems.

Stating this in Lok Sabha, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said such a step would encourage airlines to train pilots till the CAT-II level.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) also proposed to amend the Civil Aviation Requirements (CARs), making it mandatory for pilots to be trained at least till the CAT-II level.
