‘City’s growth puts defence units at risk’

The real estate boom and the subsequent vertical and horizontal growth of the city seems to have caught even the ever vigilant Indian soldier off guard.

On Friday, speaking at a civil military liaison conference here, General Officer Commanding (GOC), ATNK&K Area, Maj Gen B Sivasankar made a fervent plea to the state government to protect defence institutions and sensitive DRDO installations in and around the twin cities from threats like ISI agents, high-rise buildings and land sharks.

During the deliberations, the civil administration officials from the state government and the city interacted with top military officers in the Andhra Sub Area and also spoke of the need to exchange ‘intelligence’ between police and the Army to counter the Maoist threat.
