GOVERNMENT APPROVES SIGNING OF MOU BETWEEN INDIA AND USA FOR DEVELOPING AVIATION COOPERATION PROGRAMME

The Government has approved the signing of MoU between India and USA regarding developing an Aviation Cooperation Programme between the two countries  to be funded through US Trade and Development Agency(USTDA).

An India-US Aviation Cooperation Programme (ACP) was proposed by the US Authorities.  This proposal for an ACP was discussed during the meeting held on June 21, 2005 with representatives of the US Trade and Development Agency. The US Embassy had forwarded a draft MoU between the US Government and India outlining the interests of both sides towards developing Aviation Cooperation Programme to be funded through the USTDA.

The proposed ACP is a public/private partnership between the USTDA, the Federation Aviation Authority (FAA) and the US Aviation companies.  This programme is designed to provide a forum for communication between the Government of India and the US public & private sector entities in India.  This programme is funded through the US Trade & Development Agency and the initial funding of the programme is proposed through the public institutes of USA and private companies having stakes in aviation.
