HAL’s air ambulance service scores its first action

HAL’s newly launched air ambulance service scored its first action by transporting a senior Japanese tourist on Wednesday.

The service, `Vayu Vahan,’ was called to airlift Ms Ikeda, 82, from a primary health centre in Badami town in northern Karnataka to Bangalore’s Wockhardt Hospital, some 210 km away. The tourist had suffered spinal injuries and become immobilised while travelling from Goa to Hubli, a HAL release said.
