Private int’l airport operators will get to pick ATF suppliers

Private operators of international airports will call the final shot in deciding which oil company would supply aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to airlines in their respective airports.

Until recently, this was the sole responsibility of the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The government has decided to leave this responsibility with private airport developers.

“The government has no role in restricting or allowing any oil marketing companies (OMCs) to set up ATF facilities in the international airports operated by private companies. Companies managing these airports are empowered to allow any OMC for selling ATF in their respective airports, subject to certain conditions,” a senior official in the government said.
