Air Sahara signals another fare war, offers 90% discount

Another air-fare war seems to be in the offing in the first quarter of 2007. In a bid to garner greater market share, Air Sahara on Monday announced up to 90% discounts on normal fares in the January-April period.

To be available on sale till December 15, the tickets are valid for travel between January 1 and April 30, 2007. “We want to promote advance purchase of air tickets by passengers,” said Alok Sharma, president, Air Sahara.

The discount will mean the one-way Delhi-Mumbai fare could come as low as Rs 925, exclusive of taxes which amounts to Rs 1,121 per ticket. The lowest special fares for Bangalore-Delhi fares are Rs 1,325 and Rs 2,725, exclusive of taxes. Lowest Bangalore-Mumbai fares slabs are Rs 625 and Rs 1,325, while for the Kolkata-Delhi sector, the lowest fares are Rs 1,025.
