Indian Navy Steps Up Surveillance of Coastal Assets

The navy has stepped up surveillance of coastal assets and offshore facilities like oil wells to protect them from terrorist attacks and other threats, a top naval official said on Thursday.

The navy is “very conscious” of possible maritime threats to such national assets and an official of the rank of rear admiral is handling all aspects related to this issue, said Vice Admiral Sangram Singh Byce, Flag Officer Commanding- in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.
