No need for Arunachal resolution: Pranab

With Chinese president Hu Jintao having left India on Wednesday evening, the government on Friday emphatically stated in Parliament that Arunachal Pradesh was an integral part of India. It further rejected the Opposition demand for a parliamentary resolution on the issue.

While joining MPs cutting across lines in criticising Chinese Ambassador Sun Yuxi’s controversial comments that Arunachal Pradesh was part of China, external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee appealed to the Opposition not to “unnecessarily heighten tension” and instead allow the Indo-China dialogue process to continue.
