Small investors hold aces in Deccan Aviation

Deccan Aviation’s post-IPO shareholding runs curiously similar to its MD Capt GR Gopinath’s script that investors should not be part of the management. Several low key investors show up with substantial equity interest in the parent of the second largest domestic airline Air Deccan, according to the recently released shareholder details.

A London-based venture capitalist, Sumant Kapur, holds 10.22% stake in the company through his two funds and direct holding. Mr Kapur who entered Deccan Aviation in 2004 has indirect interests routed through Eureka Venture Fund (5.5%) and Golden Ventures Ltd (3.79%) apart from his direct holding of 0.93%.
