EADS Unveils New Delhi Subsidiary, Indian Defense Market Plans

Europe’s major aerospace company, EADS, has set up a subsidiary in India as part of its long-term strategy to establish a presence in the growing Indian aerospace market.

Company spokesman Gregor Kursell said Aug. 29 that EADS will hold 100 percent equity in the subsidiary, EADS India Private Ltd., which will operate from here. The details of the investments and business plans have not been made available.

“India is a priority country for EADS, as it offers market potential and solid aerospace and defense competencies,” Kursell said. “We will facilitate the creation in India of training centers for pilots and mechanics, maintenance and spare-parts distribution centers.”

For instance, the company will open the EADS Technology Centre India, which will employ more than 2,000 professionals.
